Between the history and nature of Viverone We will start the tour “Between the history and nature of Viverone” comfortably from the hotel and we will walk along paved roads with little traffic and gravel roads around Lake Viverone. We will reach the hills of Albiano following part of the “Path of Wonders”. We will reach the village of Azeglio where we can admire its Medieval Castle and the beautiful hills that surround it, the heart of the Erbaluce di Caluso wine production area. We will then enter the green hills and travel along a gravel road on the shores of Lake Viverone where we can admire the pile-dwelling area dating back to the Bronze Age. We will continue the route skirting the tourist area of the lake where we will stop for lunch. We will resume our journey along the low-traffic paved roads that will lead us to the Castle of Roppolo, dating back to the twelfth century. We will continue towards Lake Bertignano where we’ll have the opportunity to visit the archaeological sites of the area. This will be the last stop before returning, at which point we will then travel back via the roads of the Serra Morenica.
Waterways and castles
We will start the “Waterways and Castles” tour comfortably from the Hotel. We will reach the centre of the city of Ivrea where we’ll encounter the beginning of the Naviglio, designed by Leonardo da Vinci to irrigate the plains of Vercelli. We will skirt the banks of the Naviglio and reach the town of Albiano where we can admire its beautiful bishop’s castle. We will continue until we reach the village of Tina where we will begin a climb of 22 hairpin bends on a gravel road that will take us to the Castle of Masino, home of Fai. We will continue on the smooth gravel roads until we reach the village of murals, Maglione. Here we will stop for lunch break. We set off again towards the Castle of Moncrivello and the Sanctuary of Miralta, where we will rejoin the Ivrea Canal. We’ll skirt its shores and then head back to the hotel.
Among the vineyards of Erba Luce di Caluso
We’ll begin the tour of the “Vigneti dell ‘Erba Luce di Caluso” near the Castle of Moncrivello. From here there are two options: reach the Sanctuary of Miralta or skirt the canal of Ivrea to reach the Castle of Mazzè, famous Roman fortress. In both cases we will then go through the vineyards of Erbaluce di Caluso and reach the shores of Lake Candia. Here we will stop for lunch break. We will continue our journey along the northeast shores of the lake exploring the marshland area. We will then reach the path that will take us to the fountain of the Prince, immersed in the green woods of Vische. We will return along the blue Dora Baltea that will take us back to the starting point.
From the Park of the 5 lakes
We will start the tour in the “Park of the 5 Lakes” comfortably from the hotel. We will walk along Via San Sant’Ulderico until we reach Lake Sirio, along a beautiful paved and low-traffic panoramic road. We will then reach a cobbled road that will lead us to the famous Terre Ballerine. We will continue our tour along Lake Pistono, admiring its scenic areas and following its green paths. We will then reach the bar Ristorante la Monella at the foot of the Castle of Montalto for a stop. We will return along the same paths and roads as the outbound. (If you are unable to take the challenging routes of medium-high/difficult difficulty, you can think of changing the return route).
